The 3 Red Lights Error or also known as the Red Ring of Death is one of the most common system errors you can ever experience on your Xbox360. So common that it occurs in 1 out of 10 Xbox360.

But what exactly is the 3 Red Lights Error?

What does it mean?

And how does an Xbox 360 get it?

The 3 Red Lights Error is an error that consists of 3 Red Lights that light up the center power button that is usually green. The 3 Red Lights Error, generally means that until you find a way to repair your Xbox360, you won’t be able to play with your console .

The 3 Red Lights Error occurs primarily when an Xbox 360 over-heats. Since the time of the Xbox360′s release, it has been known that the console suffered from over-heating issues, and sadly still does to this day – which explains why the 3 Red Lights Error is so common.

It’s most common when the motherboard is exposed to too much heat, it starts to twist. This causes the soldering that holds everything together to break. Once this happens the heat sinks (responsible for keeping the GPU and CPU protected) are thrown of balance, causing the system to become unstable. Once this happens the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and the Central Processing Unit (CPU)-the core of your Xbox360 get exposed to extreme heat and cannot function properly.

Once these chips overheat your system shuts down and displays the 3 red lights error. Fixing these problems can be done by sending your machine into the service center for repair. This can take weeks and weeks and will cost you the shipping to and from the repair center. Another option that many ‘brave’ users are going with is following a Guide and doing it themselves.

This was the way I fixed my machine. I used a xbox 360 repair Guied called “3 Red Lights Fix“, which was very helpful. It includes video walk thrus and full text guide. The fix was actually pretty easy, I had my machine up and running in two hours!

Best of Luck!
